Competition for procurement contracts among European
and non-European defence and security industries
will intensify following the transposition of the
EU Defence Directive into UK law in August 2011.
Defence companies must understand how to secure and win contracts in the UK and beyond to maximise profitability at a time when global spending on defence and security is declining.
Currently most defence contracts are awarded to national suppliers, allowing European governments to protect their domestic markets. The UK, France, Germany, Italy and Sweden alone share 90 per cent of the EU defence equipment market, which is worth some €90 billion annually.
This event will provide you with an update on:
- Implementation of the new Defence Directive and the related challenges and opportunities
- An overview of the defence landscape in the UK
- Assistance available for defence and security organisations to work outside the UK
The GO Defence Conference 2011 is designed to provide the UK defence sector with entry routes into the defence export marketplace, accessing defence and security markets internationally worth hundreds of billions of pounds. |
